Default Tranny Question.

Would a D15b7 tranny fit on a D15b2 engine? My tranny seized on me yesterday. The transmission that came with my car is ran by a cable, is the b7 transmission hydro? What would i need to convert if so?

And I would like to fix it by this weekend.

Also background on how it gave out..

Went to change gears from dumping the clutch, to 2nd without pressing the clutch and I guess i wasn't in a very high rpm state to change so it grabbed the gear and now the gears are all out of wack.

Went from:
1-3-5
N
2-4-R

To:
2-3-X
1
X-4-X

X's means that i couldn't put it into that gear...

All the b7's are hydro? Man that's gay... Wish i had money to just be like " F this motor, lets go with a D16something or D15B..."

They're aren't many places here that have a b2 manual tranny...

im bored so ill answer some questions, no you wouldnt have to get a new ecu, and shorter gears are better ieo (in everybodys opinion lol) it means you get to higher rpms faster.

Yea I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't a manual shift, and all efs have cables trans. Ecu doesn't effect much of anything but the engine itself.

The trans is purely mechanical, no electrical... I'm srry but.it won't happen this weekend, id like to but its stuck in gear, I have to open it back up and check the linkage inside. I took every single peice out and steam cleaned the case at school.

When put it back together I must have missed a ball or something in the linkage or in the fork shaft, I've got the trans that the forks came out of for extra parts if there is something I'm missing. And ill seal it up properly for you so u can just stab and go. Probly Monday or tues....I got to help my buddy finish his y7/y8 head install in his ej8.

Yeah I was looking at my tranny today and i couldn't seem to figure out how to take off the linkage. It's looks like it's been welded on or does it always look like that and I need is a punch just to punch it out?

Thanks again guys

Yep I believe it is an 8mm punch, then it is either 10 or 12mm bolts for the other part of the linkage. Or remove the tranny with the linkage still attached and remove it once you have it out of the car.. probably easier that way.
