Default 93 cb7 cv joint

Just replace the passenger side cv joint. Boot was all torn up and was crackling like hell, so I replace it. Tooke her for test drive and notice the passenger cv joint was also crackling. I jack her up and got under her and notice the boot was still in tack, played around with the entire shaft and seemed to be a slight play action, hardly noticeable. Should I replace it? Anyone have feed back.
Thanks

How much play are we talking here? Are you sure you got it seated all the way in the transaxle? Make sure you got the right shaft, I have been given the a shaft or an automatic in a manual and it will go it, spline right, drive, but can have play and leak. Just a few things to think about.

The play is very slight. I’m gonna compare to my 92 cb7. The driver side cv joint is obviously cranking with I turn. It sounds identical the passenger cv joint before replacing it. I do have grease splatter on the tire and undercarriage of the car, I’m guessing it leak out. But like I said the boot is still intact. CAN THE CV JOINT POSSIBLY GO BAD EVEN IF THE BOOT IS STILL INTACT? Thats what im asking.

Grease is what lube the joint, not the boot. You say grease had leaked out. We don't know how much of it leaked out, but it is possible that it may be running dry.

Even with full of grease in the boot, joint could wear out and makes noise. Even with new/rebuilt axles installed, I know a guy who was complaining about his joints making noise. He wasn't happy.

Yeah! Im gonna replace it, drove it some more today & Im finaly convince that I should swap it out, its crackling, so its a matter of time before it takes a dump on me. Thanks for clarifying.

When your boot was falling apart, it lost all the grease, and you were running the CV joint dry. Replacing the boot will not help you at this point; damage to the CV joint has been done.
