Default Does the Main engine ECU have any play with the engagement of the AC clutch?

Hey guys. I have a 2009 Si Sedan
Quick question. My dealership wants to charge me over $700 and Im trying to get out of it because their reasoning just doesn't sound right.

Does the ECU actually control any part of A/C compressor.

My compressor randomly stopped working and I took it to the only honda dealership up here (I've heard nothing but terrible things about them).

THey called me telling me that my scan gauge was the problem for it and that my scan gauge BLEW MY ECU and that it isn't going to be under warranty and will cost me $700 PLUS LABOR!!!! WOW, So that OBVIOUSLY isn't the problem.

How ever, I did flash my ECU back to stock but i did NOT unlock my flash pro from it before my A/C stopped working.

I was pretty confident the two aren't connected at all. How is it possible that returning my ECU to stock caused the A/C to stop working.

They also said they performed diagnostics on my ECU and determined it to be at fault.

WTF?!

I'm thinking I should just grab my flash pro and re-upload my tune and see if that fixes it.

I am not sure totally, but the A/C clutch is activated only on the A/C button in the dash... the clutch is not related to the ECU. The A/C is user controlled.

I'm not sure this is so honda vehicles, but on my corvette the A/C clutch disengages at wide open throttle and when you get on it hard.

Maybe altering you ECU sees WOT all of the time and won't allow the clutch to work.

Have you tried wiring the clutch to work on your command from a switch.

If your ECU blew, then more than the AC would be effected. If your scan tool did blow your ECU, you would be rolling around in limp mode. I don't think the stealership is being straight up with you. Seems like they are looking for some cash. Are you throwing a CEL? If so, run it at autozone and see what's up. If not, the AC Comp may have siezed on the inside somewhere or just stop working altogether. In any event, a second (sometimes third) opinion is alsway a good policy.

Yes, the ECM does monitor A/C clutch operation and the A/C clutch circuit runs through connector A on the ECM.

If you had taken the money that you spent on that useless ScanGauge and bought yourself a Helm service manual instead, you could have determined this yourself - in addition to troubleshooting the entire A/C clutch circuit yourself.

Reflash it with the old program and see if it solves the problem.
