autozone axles
This is my second time that i replace my left axle on my 95 accord lx manual trans, every time i down shift to slow down it creates a clucking sound not like the sound that it does when you turn either left or right when an axle is bad (axle close to the spindle), even the tire seems to skip for a second i notice this by recreating what i mention above and having someone watch my left tire and on high speeds i experience alot of vibration, now when i purchased the axle the first time from autozone and compare it to the old ones there is sick play on the outer cv joint closes to the spindle(old axle) i notice this twice now, my guess is that the clunking noise is coming from the outer cv joint, want to know why is this happening, are autozone axles bad for manual trans been that manual trans are sensitive than auto trans. I notice too that their starting to make that clunking noise on turns but this time it has done it while me turning into a drive way but on slows speed, i haven't notice it on normal speeds 25 and up.
I was thinking of replacing my left and right with raxles, but is there something better than autozone axles?

I can't tell you how many remanufactured axles from chain parts stores I've seen come straight out of the box with problems. Very, very few of them are any good.

Raxles axles are excellent and come in at a lower price point than OE Honda.
I've had the same problem. I'm on the 3rd autozone axle, and all of them developed play/clunking in the outer CV joint. I'll have to pick up another one next time I'm doing suspension work. I've done it so many times I can have it swapped out in 30 mins tops.
What happens is the outer CV becomes worn out, the only way to reman this part is to have the cage where the ball bearings go, opened up further to install larger ball bearings to regain the tight clearance. However, this is usually done by hand, not only is is inaccurate it also weakens the cage the ball bearings sit in. Thus you have as bad or worse condition.
It is best to check your joints during oil changes. If you see the boots begin to crack, purchase new boots and replace them before they tear and the bearings become damaged from road grime and water. Preventative maintenance is key on CV axles.
Until I started buying new instead of reman' ones, CV joints were the most expensive and aggravating maintenance on my Accord. Anyway, is installing and packing new boots a tough job? The times over the years that I've asked shops about it they've quoted labor costs equal to, if not more, than the labor and parts cost of replacing the whole axle.

And when you hear that clicking.....and don't do anything about it and the ball bearing is actually popping in the cage...it will eventually overheat and seize up.....

I've had fairly good luck with EMPIs, although they aren't quite as good as they used to be. Occasonally the joints will make a "scraping" noise after installation. If that happens, do several figure-8 maneuvers in an empty parking lot to get the grease worked into all of the components; the noise should go away.

raxles are great axles i had bad luck with autozone i tryed nape before theere ok i usally get there best brand new axles when i can because remans are junk in my opinion do a job right the first time post some updates when its fixed

I had a similar situation, where, when I would accel or decel, hit a bump, shift, brake, etc, I got a clunk noise from the axle. I had the autozone axles, and replaced them twice to only get the same noise. Figured out it was a worn bushing (tie rod end bushings). There was enough play, that anytime the car moved it made the clunking noise, it sounded like it was coming from the axles, but it was really the tie rod end hitting the frame. And my rotors were warped so whenever I braked it was clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk. So anyway, I re-did the brakes, and bushings and now no more clunking.
Like I said, you might just have bad axles, but it's worth checking. Especially since you possibly have 15 year old bushings
