I have seen this for quite awhile and wondering if anyone has done some testing with this. Looking to try anything to get my car in the 12s next time to the strip.

I know if the car hooks, it will go 12s, but some extra insurance would be nice. lol

i have no idea. But a smoother more aero front end won't hurt. And it would cost you about $3 and about 20 minutes of your time. And maybe a few laughs from the crowd.

 

It has to be blue though regular masking tape wont cut it.

 

Green tape is better for the paint lol

 

but in all seriousness try it out.. You can be the controlled test.

Get the blue stuff (green if you like your paint , as said above).. Make 2 passes without the tape, then make 2 passes with the tape.

and report back

Remember to take pix, i could use a good laugh. lol

 

No offense this is dumb! Haha the blue tape is for preventing rock chips on long drives...the best smoothest front end is fresh paint n if u want 3m makes a clear film for preventing rock chips, used alot on exotics n super fly rides!

The east coast street racing crowd definitely loves their tape. lol

I'll be taking pics for sure. The whole car is pretty much a joke, so I'll even get some laughs out of it.

 

I was also under the impression that it is used to prevent rock chips...

 

most of the guys up here have front ends that line up like shittt. often with a whole 1" gap at the hood, headlights, bumper etc..

The use the tape to fill the gaps...Thats the theory anyway.

I'm sure if you can drive consistently enough it will add some MPH.

 

The way I look at it, is its like the cheap non-permanent way of having the dynamics of a 1 piece front end.

 

Its for road trips for when ppl drive their car to shows or out of state they dont **** up their front end

 

if you think that closing up all the gaps on the front of your car DOESNT help improve areo... then dont do it and let everyone else go faster for free!

 

im not a fan of it, how about make your body panels fit correctly. lol

 

Haha I strongly agree! For wat its worth its not worth it! I havent even seen it but I know its gotta b hella tacky! Build a car w/ real power and you wont b worried bout little front end gaps...if you have a straight up drag car w/o a 1 piece front end then have at it...def. not on anything else other than long road trips for temp....jus my opinion...

 

That's what I like to hear.
I have been reading some aerodynamics articles and it seems that sealing up the front end is pretty important.
My body panels fit correctly.

 

i say try it...i deff think it makes a difference...will be enough to impact et/mph im not sure on that but its worth a try
