Default MPFI Swap: It runs

It's finally over. After 4 days of hell, my dx finally has MPFI. And all I can say is very very nice. Just need to figure out this surging idle problem and all will be cool. Thanks to everyone who helped when I was going out of my mind.

congrats. i did mine yesterday and all went well. my only problem is that my car is idling HIGH @ 2-3k RPM. i was told that it's the EACV. i'm also guessing that it's the throttle cable. i'm swapping both out tonight (hopefully) and we will see what happens.....

in terms of a review, it pulls SO MUCH MORE!!!! gotta love that extra power!

Well waht can I say? I had almost given up on my car last friday when it refused to start. I kept thinking that I should have left it alone at first, that I was in over my head. But with the encoragement and support of my friends and family, I pressed on. After four unbelievebly long days, she turned over and roured to life. The sound she makes with my testpipe is is so smooth, not annoying like I thought it might be. Here's the stange thing the engine runs smoother, and before the swap it took her awhile to turn over, now she just turns on. My friends new RSX doesnt even do that! And the engine is so quiet at idle, you think the car was off. The only thing I need to do now is figure out how to lean her out she seems to be burning a little rich. This is all on a car with 187,000 miles on the stock motor and she's pulling hard! I recoomend this mod to everone who has a Dx. You'll love your car so much more. P.S. had my first race today against a 92 civic ex. We were about neck and neck, then he pulled on me at the very end. But then he had mods. I love it!!!!

Seriously - not very many people actually do a MPFI swap correctly!!!

Nice work, you know what's up.

Thanks guys, Im just enjoying the set up, but now Im looking into some mods. Is it true that the CRX header sucks compared to an aftermarket set-up. If this is true, it's time for a header!

Hey guys, is the D16A6 camshaft better than the D15B2? If so, I can pick one up at the local junkyard for cheap. My car is a 91, so I not so sure if there is a difference in the years of the cams. I heard talk about the 88 cams not as aggressive as the 89-91, so if I pick one up I want to make sure the car is a 89-91.Plus is the cam key the same on all the D series? Will I be able to use the one off my cam for the Si cam? Thanks in advance.

Surging Idle usually means a wacky vacuum leak or a faulty MAP sensor or MAP sensor connection.

the idle has been fixed. I just picked up the cam. Should I put it in or not? My redline is at 6500 and I don't even rev that high. Would it be ok for everday driving?

man i'm jealous i really wanna try it again but its getting cold up here so i think i will have to wait til next spring got any pics ??? the Si cam and the Si tranny makes a difference though and i'm still getting used to switching gears much sooner. although it pulls pretty good for a dpfi i still want my mpfi...

Sorry, no pics at the moment. I need to find me an Si tranny. I think ill stay away from the cam untill I upgrade the valvetrain. I think a header and air intake will be up to bat next. I want everyone's opinion on what I should do next.

What did you do to fix ur surging idle? Mine is doing that right now. I was told that I need to bleed out my radiator. There is air in there somehow and that's causing it to surge....

Yeah, you might want to try bleeding the air out, but I don't think that's the problem. I would make sure you have all the vacuum hoses hooked up correctly. The problem I had was that the lock-up purge soleniod valve was not hooked up. aPlus reset your idle by ubplugging the IACV turn the throttle screw, cut car off, plug back in, pull hazard fuse for 10 sec, and your done.
