Default 1990 accord valve adjustment

will adjusting my valves allow me to regain lost power or just stop the valve from knocking?

If there is excessive clearance there will not be the full lift of the camshaft applied to the valves, so yes you would regain some lost power. Mechanical lifters sound cool on an old muscle car, not on a Honda.

I have done this and major gain in power. It's very important that you adjust each valve with the cam lobe 180 degree in the opposite direction rather than using the TDC to adjust all valves. This takes longer but much more accurate.
Always torque them properly. So have a torque wrench handy. While you are at it, change the valve cover or if your lower seals need changing due to oil in the tubes.

I have a 1990 Honda accord lx 5sp, it makes a ticking sound when running. it seems to me that it is the valves are out of place or the timing is off. also while driving it, it dose fine till it warms up then I'll go to take off from the light and it don't want to go. until I floor it about and shift at a higher rpm.
would you know if there is a diagram I could find to look at to learn how to set mine correctly? or any other suggestions on what it could be. thanks.
