with dohc's running 9's for a while now,
whats more impressive
a 9 sec SOHC honda
or a 8 sec DOHC honda

I think sohc, if timing is too far off, you'd have to regrind that shaft, you can't just 'spin' a gear and call it a day, but thats just me and my novice approach to car logic

No there's not but I know someone trying.
I'd rather see a 9 second SOHC. It's always good to make a first.

 

no there isnt, but pretty dang close for few fellahs, ......and id have to say a 9 second sohc would be the more impressive to me, by a little, even tho each car would give me the goosebumps..

 

theres something cool about seeing someone be the first to break a time barrier.

8 second DOHC's arent uncommon. theres already a few of them in the 8's.

and a 9 second single cam hasnt been done, so it will be exciting to see who's the first.

 

9 second SOHC cause all the DOHC boys(and girls...Lisa Kubo) are running 8's now.

8's are more impressive than 9's. regardless of how many cams you have.

 

i know impo was runnig a sohc but not sure how fast they got it going i know it was close to 9s if not in there and now they have a b16 running mid to low 9s
but for me the faster the better a 4 banger going 9s is still pretty inpressive but street legal would be nice

The Impo civic ran a best of 10.9 with a sohc D16A6 before they gave up and switched to a DOHC

Damn, looks like you got a stalker!! Anyways, I think 8's are much more impressive. You don't realize how much it takes to get there. The only reason no one has gone 9's in a SOHC is because nobody want's to waste their time with that motor. There is no weight break for a smaller motor so why would you put yourself at a disadvantage like that. It costs a lot to build a race car so you might as well build something that will be competitive and have a chance to win some money and pick up some sponsors.

 

nah, i've just seen him at the track, thats all. His friends usually drive his car faster than he can...

but again, thats just from what i've seen

hmm ive been drag racing for a few motnhs and hes been drag rcing for years
since the 90's
handling a 12 sec car is alot harder then handling a 15sec car on the track
so untill u actually have a 12 sec car then u can talk

You will need more than $17K to get into the 9's with a SOHC.

17K? where you come up with that figure? besides,nobody has gotten a SOHC to run 9s,even if they spent 34K and even with a DOHC,by the time you get it into the 9s,you wouldve spent well over 17K.

 

if yuo notice he said you will NEED MORE then 17k


and i never said it will take me 17k to get in the 9's

i know it will take me lots more then that
