Is it just the cylinder itself or was the spark plug and spark plug wire also covered in oil? If so it may be time to redo the cam/valve cover and spark plug tube grommets. Did you do a compression check on all four cylinders?
If the oil is fouling or contaminating the plug it will not allow correct conductivity and may cause a misfire or dead hole. Lose a cylinder on a four cylinder and you are down 25% power. The new oil may have detergents that broke down the old sludge causing a larger oil leak which would foul the plug.
If the plug itself is oil fouled a new plug would fix the mis/nofire issue. But that will not fix whatever problem caused the oil fouling. If the valve/cam cover and spark plug tube grommets have failed then you will need to replace them to properly fix the oil fouling issue.

Make sure the spark plug wires are free of oil, and test them with an Ohm meter to verify that they are still within spec. No more than 25K(25,000)Ohms per wire.
