Plasiticguage gets that accurate? who would have known...

Little tight IMO, but is within spec. I am assuming this is a "B" engine correct?

ya sorry about that ya its a b18b that im building

no its not that accurate lol i just took an educated guess
with the lil differences between the .0015 mark and the .0020 they were all in between
those two markes the .0019 was closes to the .0020 mark and the .0016 and .0017 were closer to the .0015 mark but not the same......

so is that good enough to leave it like that because i cant go oem bearings because the
crank was cut down and the bearings im using are acl race .25

Did you have the crank re-nitrided? If not I don't recomend using a "turned" crank.

im not sure about it being re-nitrated i bought it like that.....
but i dont know if i said it right but the crank journal was resized due to a spun rod bearing
is that what needs to be re-nitrated

IMO, yes. After it's "turned" you should get it re-nitrided. The factory does this stock and when it is "turned" you loose the hardening on it surface.

hardening of the crank probably goes around 2-4mm deep how much material was removed from the journals. If it was only like .01" i wouldnt even worry about it.
also, the clearances look fine but plastigauge is not accurate to .000x i would say that your actual clearances would fall between .001 and .002 which should be fine.

I feel that "unusual71" is mistaken on the depth of the Nitriding and if you choose to take his advice, I wish you luck on your build.

Nitriding is about 140 microns deep or .005" to .006". Turning the crank .010" will remove the surface hardening. Seeing that you posted that you are using .25 oversize bearings... well the math make sense to me. My advice is to get it re-nitrided.

yeah my mistake on that, I originally thought the journals were hardened using a different method and I had nitriding confused with a different method which i thought was applied after . Without case hardening the crank is useless

edit: ^thanks for the professionalism i almost forgot i was on honda-tech for a minute lol

Good to hear. After you get it back, do what "Garage 808 hatch" suggested for swapping the bearings to see if they even up.

Both "Garage808" and "unusual71" are right on with their clearance suggestions.

Hope it works out for you. Good luck
