couldnt you just buy an ebay intake and then buy the k&n filter for it? isnt it basically the same thing? i do not know about this either.

Yes, you could basically run a K&N cone filter on eBay piping. As a forewarning, though, it won't net you anything but a noise increase.

As for engine life, as long as you run a decent filtering element your engine will be fine.

 

It depends on how you look at it the best thing is to spend 250 on the K&N air intake it will increase hp, look the best and be the most reliable. If you get an ebay one and spend under 100 with the k&n air filter you should be pretty happy with it but the cheap aluminum piping doesn't look very good.

 

You have been misinformed. At best, it'll yield negligible power gains.
