New to tig wlding anyone have any advice before i start
Whats up H-T...
I have always wanted to learn how to tig weld so i thought the best way to learn was to buy a welder and just start practing so i shopped around and bought a miller dynasty 200 for $400. I have been looking around online and found that there are two modles of this welder and i dont know which one i got. It has a bunch off buttons on the front so i think its a dx so i think i got a good deal. Can any one comfirm that the dx has a bunch of buttons on the front. It did not come with any torches or a foot peadle so any recomendations would be good. I was wondering if anyone has an idea of a good dvd or book to read.
Thanks in advance
Eddie

$400 is one hell of a deal,to good to be true i think. If you have looked these up online you have obviously seen these machines go for couple thousand or so. First thing you should do is download the manual off of Millers website and go from there.

The 200DX has AC ability it will be a button on the far left of the control panel that will show AC and a sine wave.
The 200SD does not have AC ability.
AC is only used for Aluminum.
I have the 200DX so I'm not sure what the left hand side of the SD has.
The price difference between the DX and SD is around 600 bucks "check ebay".
Although for 400 bucks I'd imagine its stolen or has major issues.
as for advice, watch youtube videos on how to tig, it took me a good couple hours to learn how to do it, although it will take much longer to make them look pro.. "Im not at that level yet"
best of luck.

Anyone have any advice on a cable, foot pedal, regulator or torch. Make a long storry short all i have is the welder itself with a power cable coming out the back. Sorry about the newbness im learning as i go.

Thanks
Eddie
The 200SD also has AC. What the SD doesn't have is the pulse function. If you don't have a set of buttons for pulse than you have a SD. When I bought my Dynasty, I bought the contractor kit to go along with it which got me up and running along with a tank.
