clutch issues
So my brother in law has a 97 accord ex 2dr coupe with a 2.2 vtec motor and 5spd trans. He let go of the clutch on accident when parking it and it jumped like a manual does when you release the clutch with no gas.
He got up to go to work today and the clutch pedal goes all the way to the floor with no resistance
but it comes up on its own. The car starts when the clutch it pushed in but will not go into gear while the car is running. Im thinking its either the master or slave cylinder. any ideas ???

the clutch is on a spring so it WILL come back up on its own in most cases and the car starts on a sensor that only senses pedal position not engagement...the slave cylinders on these cars are infamous at going bad i would suspect that is your culprit....replacing the master is a little harder but you could still replace it just to be safe
I'd check the carpet under the dash just right under the clutch pedal for leaks then look at the slave to see if there's any seepage or wetness around the slave cyl boot.
