Clutch Cable Repair on CRX
I know yall push searching, I gave it a go but didn't see my problem answered. My clutch cable snapped at the tranny the other day and I purchased a new one and installed today. When I went to test it, my pedal was extremely hard to push down and didn't return to it's normal position. I adjusted the nut tighter and more loose and it didn't do anything but move the point where it disengages, still very hard to push all the way down. The lever that comes off the transmission doesn't return to it's stationary position, it only goes about 3/4 of the way. I can push it down the rest of the way. Is there a spring internal or external that I might be missing? I'd appreciate any help, I'm a delivery driver and its killin me without a car. Thanks in advance.

did you have this problem before with the old clutch cable? if not then you probably installed it wrong. When i bought mine from Honda I actually had to cut off the rubber part to get it to work. Theres a rubber part on the end with a metal plate. the rubber on my piece was like fused to the metal. It should not be like that. So I cut it off and now it works fine.

May want to bust out your Haynes manual or pick one up at Autozone (etc). If I was home I'd take a peak. Sounds like an adjustment somewhere (more than just that nut. With that cable disconnected, does that are move correctly? Examine the old cable, any clues there?
I would start thinking that your clutch and pressure plate setup is actually what broke your old cable. Maybe something went wrong with it causing it to get very stiff and that caused the old cable to brake. i would check into that before you go to far with the adjustments. and the more you try to press the pedal right now the more its going to stretch the new cable so try not to press the clutch pedal alot right now.
