Default New Precision Power equipment?

So, back in the day Precision Power (PPI) used to be tha s**t as far as car audio stuff was concerned. Then, they were bought out by someone, I forgot who, and the quality went down hill, really fast. But now, from what I understand, they re-engineered their stuff, and its supposed to be really nice again, I was wondering if anyone can confirm or deny, based on a recent experience with the new stuff...

Almost all your favorites are owned by DEI now. DEI consolidated a lot of companies into one. There just isn't the demand or profits that there used to be in car audio. Many companies have gone out of buisness and then got bought up by larger companies.

People want things for cheap these days. With cheap comes lower quality. Just learn to accept the names of yesterday are NOT the products they used to be. Towards the end of phoenix gold, design were comming from china. It wouldn't surprise me if the amps they still have are also out of china.

You should be less interested in the name brands and more interested in WHO designed the amp. For instance http://www.zedaudiocorp.com/ is the guy who designed most of your favorite "name" brand amplifiers back in the day.

Hold on before you buy any ppi. There not own by dei anymore. They were sold to power acoustic about 2 years ago. The deal was finished this past june. None of the techs that designed ppi went with power acoustic. Dei retained all designs to the ppi. So all the new ppi are not really ppi. So if you buy a ppi amp. Your buying a power acoustic amp. As for soundstream. There still **** as the company is still in the same hands. But with power acoustic as there main backer.

Once most hard core amp guys found out. Everyone was in the rush to buy up all the ppi art series and sodona amps. Hell I just picked up a new a600 for 500 bux. The price has went up over them.

Some of the newer ppi stuff is actually decent, though for the prices. Maxxsonics is also on the come up.

i would say 99% of amps are from china/korea and they are fine. The new PPI looks good, i haven't used any of it yet and the prices (wholesale) seem good.

i do like to see that most of the amps are class A/B and really only the mono block amps are Class D. i would be interested in seeing what their dealer support looks like as opposed to online wholesale race to zero support.

Yeah, I started that post bc they've got a fullpage add in one of my audio mags, and the stuff looked completely different that what I've seen in the past. The powerclass amps look just like they did back in the day, but the component spkrs look like they've been completely re-worked. They also don't look anything like any of the power acoustic stuff.

The phoenix gold engineers from way way back when phoenix gold was gangster... they created a new company together, didn't they? Anyone know the name of it?

Its awesome to see some of these companies going back to their routes, it gives me hope for aftermarket audio... Like when Orion re-released the HCCA stuff... SWEET...

I would disagree with that. The build quaility is no where near the same level. The other problem is parts. A large quantity of the parts used are difficult to source in the US. I have a China designed Phoenix Gold amp that I had to repair. Finding replacement parts was a pita!!
