Brakes went from mushy to super stiff
Ok, so I did a rear disc conversion on my hatch awhile back and have had problems with it. For starters, I bled each wheel multiple times (I mean I ran about 2 bottles of fluid through the system, no air). I jacked up the rear and would spin each wheel and have someone else hit the brakes, both sides stopped fine and would hold. There was a problem with the e-brake, it would lock down the right rear but not the left. When I would drive the car, the brakes were always 'soft' on the first press of the pedal, but if I let it up and back down again, they were firm. I adjusted the pedal travel from the floor, but it didn't help much.
Well I could never figure out what was going on and the other day I just got frustrated with it and slammed my brake pedal down. I don't know if something came unfrozen or what but now my brakes are tight as hell, and my e-brake will lock up both sides in 8-10 clicks! Now I need to readjust my pedal height, but what do you think caused this? My brakes now work phenominally and like I said, my e-brake is just as good as it was when I had drums. Nothing is dragging or anything. I'm just wondering how jamming the pedal down like that somehow fixed all of this? I though I might of had a stuck caliper or something, but the brakes would grab while spinning the tires up on jackstands. Any ideas?

Well just cause the wheels grab off the ground, doesnt mean they will grab going down the road. Your adding the weight of the car. Could have been a binding caliper piston or slide. That or it sounds like some was out of adjustment...
Yeah that is the only thing I can think of since the e-brake never worked correctly and now all of a sudden it holds great. I dunno, but I'm happy it is working good now. I was on the verge of replacing my MC and upgrading to SS lines. Still may but don't think I need to.
