1964 - Real Indoor Drag Racing in Chicago....
Wow thanks for sharing that. I have always said it would be so cool to have something like that. The ventilation would have to be insane to keep up. Anyone seen those huge warehouses along the NJ Turnpike that are always up for lease? One of them is about a 1/2 mile long....hmmm

Thats badass! I bet it was super loud in there. Too bad we dont have anything like this. those garage doors are pretty sketch tho lol
The day I win the lottery I'm building a track just like that.
I wonder what would happen if a funnycar ran in there. The fumes would kill everyone.

Its funny, me and a buddy were talking about this very issue the other day. we were looking up the longest buildings in the world. If i remember it was a science propulsion lab at one of the major california universities.
there is money to do this (outdoor track) but the permits on getting it done are difficult. LIMA has been fighting for a track on Long Island, NY for years now. Not just a 1/4 mile track but a whole motorsports arena.
and indoor track would be even more expensive to build and to up keep. but it would be able to be run all year.
An indoor track would be nice. with a/c lol

Those pics are absolute gold!
Seems like everyone who deals with winter has thought of this at one point or another :p. I always thought dubai would be the first place to do this considering their indoor sky hills how hard could it be to put a drag track inside only dificult part would be ventilation as everyone said and the electric bill for all that ventilation constantly running.
You could always try and run the ventilation on solar panels of some sort to reduce the bills.
