speedo stopped working? sport mode light flashing and check engine light? 1990 accord
on the way to work this morning my speedo just stopped working.... then a few moments later the light on my cluster that shows if my sport mode/econo mode button is depressed on the shifter started flashing... then a few seconds later the check engine light came on. i pulled over and turned the car off. started it back up and after driving for a few seconds the speedo started working again and the lights never came back. it was fine the rest of the way to work. i have a 1990 accord LX. anyone ever heard of this before or have any ideas what would cause this? i figured it was just the cable going from the tranny to the speedo at first but when the shifter light came on and the check engine light came on shortly after i got concerned.
thanks

in the 90 accord it has a electronic speed sensor so there is no cable, and sense its electric that is why ur CEL came on.....The ECU could tell that the speed sensor wasnt working proper.....Its very rare for a speed sensor to go bad......
I had this issue with my H22 accord which is a 92.....It was just a loose wire on the speed sense which is right on top of the tranny.....it you go to the junk yard and find a 90-93 accord clip the speed sensor plug off the wire harness and rewire that one to urs.....Most likly it quit working and came back on because the wire is weak and ready to give out.....mine kept doint the same thing to me then it finally gave out completly and i rewired it and never had this issue....
Good luck, and if its not a loose/broken wire, the speed sensor itself is really easy to change
