I have read on many occasions that the h23 crank is stronger than the h22s..although i have never seen an explanation as to why...
But from experience with friends the stock h23 crank should hold up to or around 400whp just fine. Start going over that and you might want to think about upgrading. one friend he made 500 on his and he didnt drive it all the time but it was only two months until it broke.

For the h22, 98+ is 55mm mains, 97- is 50mm mains.
I don't have any first hand experience, but everything I've read indicates the h23 crank breaks much more frequently than the h22 crank. However, with the proper care, neither of these should be breaking on the street.
There's not really a good way to tell you how much power you can gain either, as that will be dependent on your supporting mods, how good the tune is, etc.
OP, I'm assuming you know you need to use the h23 rods with the h23 crank.

im using an h23 crank with h22 rods...not only that, but with pro3 cams and a .030" gasket.
i also have a friends car i tuned using h23 crank, h22 rods and h22 pistons. Stock head. It's roughly 12.6:1 compression

well witch will be the best combination h22a1 with h23 crank and h22 rods or
h22a1 with h23 crank and h23 rods
and what will be the different (sorry to ask so many questions but is better ask to do something guessing)

h22a1 block, h23a1 crank, h22 rods will give u a lil high compression to make more power. all you need to do is clay the motor just to make sure ur not hitting. or you can just grind the pockets a lil bit of the piston to make sure u have clearnance for sure
the h22 cranks come balanced from honda nd the h23 cranks are not balanced. is this correct? i think i have read this somewhere, it sure rings a bell.
Im currently using an h23a1 crank in my h22a1 block. love it

if it comes from the factory it is pretty much balanced well enough. if you get the crank from someone else its not sure what has been done so it it will be benefial to do it.
