check engine light came on and now when i rev engine it stops accelerating at 4k RPM, like it would if u rev'd up to redline.

isnt 4k RPM when vtech kicks in? seems like the problem maybe related? idk.

it also seems to have started bogging down when idle when i let off accelerator it drops down to under 500rpm for a few seconds bfore jumping back up to the normal 800-1000 range.


any ideas here?

 

Ok, what are the codes? The car is in limp mode....not much to do until the issue is solved/fixed/identified.

 

It could be a number of things but my showed the same symptoms when my vtec solenoid went out.

 

What were you doing to the car in the days prior to the check engine light coming on?

 

I havent done any work on the car recently.

the code was 12xx (fuel air something something)
