D16z6= single cam
You CANNOT put a B series head on a D series
If you really want a dohc, go buy yourself a dohc zc.
Its pretty much a direct swap and youll have your dohc.

ill do that when im ready .. for now, ima b rockin this d16z6 lol.
its a beast though (for what it is anyway)
ima post a thread with pics and **** in a few minutes, haters feel free to hate please.
i'm aware of 1 person who did it and it was a **** ton of work. not worth the effort when you could put that same energy/money into an actual dohc engine.

Noone else seemed to catch this so i figured i'd point out: if you have a z6, you already have a vtec motor. the only reason to build a mini me is to put a vtec head on a non vtec d15/16 block. you already have a mini me...
which fuel injection are you running? was it an si to begin with? was it a dx with dpfi?
and yes, like D16sihatch said, you can put a dohc zc head on your block but its pointless and alot of work. 1 head bolt becomes an issue and the oil ports are shifted over too. not worth it, but can be done.

anyways, i was hoping there was a different kind of mini me setup like 1.8dohc head with a z6 block, but like you and everyone else said, its not worth the work and/or its not possible.
so, im going to stick with the z6 until i can figure out what it will take for a full 1.8 dohc swap. or even a 2.0 if its possible without a ton of work
well if you want the b swap, d16sihatch put some nice work in to help ease the pain.

this will get you most of the way through, if not all.
that z6 aint a bad mill. a little short on torque, but rev happy, and efficient. you could swap your cam, full exhaust, some cold air, and a tune and be close to ls territory without too much money or work.

I don't think it's hate, but recognition of the advantages of DOHC over SOHC when building for power are to obvious to ignore, from a tuning stand point in itself, the DOHC would be the optimal choice, especially if you're going all-motor. You really can't make power (ALOT of it) in a D Series (or even a B series in some cases) without using boost, so when you get to bang-for-buck the dually comes out. If you threw $400 into a SOHC if your upgrades don't invovle BOOST then you won't see the numbers you'd make if you spent that 400 on a dually, a bone stock LS Swap can be obtain for just a tad bit over 400 actually and the performance difference over a z6 is VERY significant.
maybe someone could clear something up for me. if i have a sohc 16 valve motor and a dohc 16 valve motor, why does it make more power automatically? if the lift is the same profile for a single cam then split up onto two cams, wouldnt that be the same? the valve train would weigh close to the same(they both are 16 valve motors). there is less rotating mass in the sohc valvetrain (only one cam) what am i missing?
