was wondering if i can use extended top hats with kybs and ebay coilovers only problem i have noticed is i dont have the cap that sits on the spring like most other people do, my coils sit directly in the stock top hat. do i need to buy new coilovers or can i make something to put in place since i dont have anything there already?

 

many years ago i ran ebay coilovers with NO top hats... i didnt have a problem other then the obvious crappy ride and bad camber wear.... it made a slight clunk noise when going into driveways sideways though, which was normal in this case....

 

yeah but i have to collars off so its slammed and my struts are close to bottoming out constanly, wanting top hats and wondering if they will work without having those caps that most come with to sit on top of spring?

 

you dont need those "rice hats" (i mean the shape, not being derogatory) anyway. the spring should fit inside the rubber grommet under the top hat.

an extended top hat wouldnt work properly if you had some piece underneath it anyway. so no, you dont want or need it.

 

i think everyone is misunderstanding me i WANT ground control extended top hats they do not sit like the stock top hat they do NOT sit directly on top of the spring everyone i know and picture i can find has that little rubber or metal peice on top of the spring and the extended top hat sits higher up with a bump stop or bushing between the top hat and that plate/rubber whtever it is so im just guessin i have to have it, didnt think i was making it that hard to understand.....

 

its just a polyurethane grommet ring.

just call GC if you really want the GC part. but you could rig a stock rubber grommet to work with it.
