crank shaft positoin sensor help
ok so my ecu is throwing code 4(crank shaft positoin sensor) and isnt reving past 3 grand now i just recently did mpfi convertion and put a b16a in it but i had the same problem when the dual point in it not reving past three
this started happening when i didnt hav the tranny grounded i reapetdly tryed to start the car and the starter woudnt kik after i figured out why
i got the car running again but it began throwing code 4 and redlineing at 3
and dose the same thing with the new swap.
what could be the problem if its not the cencor itself could i hav shorted something out

well, the sensor is located within the distributor. and not rev'ing past 3K is your car going into "limp" or "safe" mode. doing this keeps damage to the motor down to a minimal amount. recheck your wiring, make sure its all plugged in the correct way. this might not have anything to do with it, but there is a certain wires coming off the distributor (sets of 5 or 2 different sets, depends on which car you have) that are shielded and those shielded wires get grounded. if there is a break in that wire it could cause a faulty reading. just a thought on this last one.
