What years and hondas will my ef motor fit into??
hey guys ive got a 89 lx sedan sitting in the yard just waiting to be back on the road, only problem is the car is a hazard hahaha it runs like a top but wouldnt pass inspection (and shouldnt) to save its life. im looking to buy a cheap shell of some sort hopefully with a blown motor to swap my guts into
ive been told any civic 88-95
any teg 88-95
any crx 88-91
i dont want to do any conversions just drop and swap what shells should i keep a lookout for

CRX yes, civic yes, teg no. The 88-89 integra MAYBE, but nobody owns those.
EDIT: if you pick up a civic after 91 you'll need to convert your engine to work with OBD1. Easier to stick with an 88-91 CRX/Civic

You tranny is also hydro so that would have to be swaped out if you went with anything newer then 91.
Your best bet is to just get another 88-91 civic.

netfreak i was told that the d series can drop into any b series which is why i listed the teg, so thats not true?
also for the tranny comment i forgot to mention that i have the whole drivetrain from the 89 civic so i wouldnt be matching my motor with the newer trans, since this is the case could i just bolt it right in trans/motor and all
also netfreak can you elaborate on the odb1 stuff. because i definitely dont want to convert anything but again im not just dropping a motor into a newer car with existing parts. my civic now runs perfectly and everything in it works with that said is there no way to bolt all of that stuff up? ie a 93 civic hatch with all my guts i guess making it like a 93 odb0 if that makes sense

You will also have an issue with converting from OBD1 to OBD0.
If you had a hydro transmission, you could then swap into a new vehicle with the correct mounts, but you will still run into a wiring issue
i guess to make things more complicated (because i tend to complicate wording) i have a perfect running car EVERYTHING works i just need a new shell can i take my entire cars guts and mount them up to a 92-95 civic
ok ludster i suppose i couldnt use the wiring harness i already had? i guess its no longer an option then i wasnt trying to fit or modify anything i just wanted to know which bare bone shells i could be searching for that i could put my motor, trans, wiring, fuel EVERYTHING into and it would mount right up i guess the answer is 88-91 only huh? im not trying to convert anything or use anything off of the 92-95 aside from the frame/shell itsself

If you got a 92-95 shell that had all the sensors/wires/ecu/transmission, then you could convert your current block to work with that.. provided it is all D series stuff anyway. If this is your first engine swap I would not recommend anything other than an 88-91 Civic/CRX.
