Reverse (Backup) Lights Not Working
This is my first post here and I'm hoping someone can save me a trip to the dealership.
I have a 2002 Civic ES (base Model) Manual Transmission.
I've checked the bulbs (look fine but, not sure of the wattage)
I've checked the wires at the connector (12v in reverse / 0v out of reverse)
I've kicked an additional ground from the socket to the chassis
Obviously, I checked the fuses etc, since I mentioned I have power at the sockets.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Thanks!
Wade

Forgive the ignorance:
Since I have 12v (at the reverse light connector) when the tranny is in reverse, does that not indicate the reverse switch on the tranny is working, OR, can I have power but not a complete circuit?

if you have switching voltage at the bulb socket, its either 2 things.
1- bad bulb
2- bad socket
i have been in the same place where the voltage is right up to where it needs to be and no further. Check those two things.

By switching voltage, I mean:
Tranny in reverse puts power to the socket/connector and tranny out of Reverse takes power away. In my mind, this is as designed. But, that's not to say there's not a component somewhere that's faulty.
