Default My new alarm/R/S!!!!

Hey guys, just prepped my new alarm that I got recently from Jacob, thx buddy!!! Im stoked about this thing, Ive been checking it out for over 6 months now, and finally got it... Ive been too busy at the shop to work on my own car, but hopefully Ill get this thing in this week. Desmond, I know you're not a huge fan of this one, I just wanted to try something new! Its the Zenisis 502, this thing is gonna be sweet! Obviously not a stealth install, Ive got a few add ons, but nothing as detailed as Desomond's work...

let me know how you like it. mine has been in for a couple weeks now and i love it. i've had less issues with the ZN-502 than i did with my 5902v. i see your basic bench prep is pretty similar to mine.

Yeah, straight forward prep, nothing special as far as how Im gonna install my alarm. Im gonna pop the gauge cluster out (It takes like 3 mins), and zip tie the thing up behind there, and drop the wires straight down. everything I need is basically at, or around the fuse box, so no need for anything extravagant here.

Dude, I know Im gonna love it. The quality is def there. I mean, the brain weighs like 3.5 pounds. You can tell they didn't cut any corners as far as the manufacturing. You know how you have to open the brain and cut that yellow loop on the circuit board to switch from manual to auto transmission mode? Well, while I was in there, I just checked out the circuit board, and all the contacts, and man, this thing is built like a tank. There are a few things Ill have to get used to, but Im very confident its gonna be bad ***!

I would say feature wise, the unit compares with the viper 5901, If you made me compare it to a DEI product. Its an up to 1 mile range 2-way remote. None of the start kill, or flex relays are on board like the DEI alarms, so this would make you think that the brain would be smaller, but its really not. The DEI unit actually has 4 aux output channels, where as the zenesis unit has 2.

The zenisis actually includes, in the box, something called zpass touch pad. Its a pad that you can mount on the windshield, and type a code into to arm and disarm you alarm, if something were to happen to your keys, or you alarms fob... Kindof a nice feature for those of you that prefer passive arming, but tend to leave your keys in the car by accident (like myself, who also prefers to have DEI 530T window modules roll up my windows and close my sunroof with a 529T, as well as locking my doors upon the passive arm, leaving me with no way into my car, while its stuck at a gaspump, unless I call pop-a-alock, and then have to deal with my alarm going off while the guy unlcocks my car, lol!).

I really like the two-way remote. Its a very slim profile, very bright UBLCD display. Sounds fancy, right? Its not really, just stands for Ultra Bright Liquid Crystal Display remote. But its physically smaller of a remote, but the LCD screen stays abt the same size. There are just 4 buttons on it, they are on the side, vs two on the front that take away from the screen size of the 5901.

The wiring is completely different. The programming is completely different as well. Instead of a valet switch like your DEI alarms, its done with your brake pedal... Kind of cool for you guys that have been installing for awhile. You'll see what I mean.

Zenisis has an onboard canbus data to data transfer system, like the new DEI units, except zenisis uses fortin for their bypass and integration stuff, unlike DEI which uses xpress kit. Not much of a difference worth talking about there, esp for me, bc my car doesn't have an oem immobilizer...

Im actually replacing a viper 5902v with the zenisis. Ive got no beef with the DEI stuff at all. Its prob some of my favorite stuff to install, I mean, Ive got all their wiring memorized by heart, and Ill never forget it. Ill keep installing DEI, as long as Im an installer. Its def great stuff. It was just about me wanting something different for a change. I had researched the zenisis for awhile, and had heard nothing but good reviews on it, so, I thought Id give it a try.

i've had mine in for a couple weeks now and love it. the range is about the same, maybe a LITTLE less, but not enough to make a huge difference. ease of use it great, the z-pass touch comes in handy. prolonged install will tell the real story.

So, I hooked this thing up the bench today, while I was waiting on an appointment bc I was bored. The first thing that Im not used to, is that I had to program the remotes fresh from the box. This step isn't needed from DEI. Not a huge deal, activate ignition, tap the brake wire 4 times, then hold it down on the forth (Was just tapping the brake wire to 12v on the bench...), then press the arm button. This may sound like a lame thing to like, but the siren sounds so emphatic and authoritative, much different than the DEI siren, I liked it. I didn't notice an LED in the box, so I was wondering abt that, but then once I programmed the remotes, and activated the alarm, It was kinda hard to miss the LEDS... There is a group of Christmas tree like flashing LEDs in the zpass pad, you can't really miss them, and there is prob the brightest LED that ive ever seen in the backside of the two way antenna, which is kind of cool, bc unlike the DEI antennas, that have the LED facing the interior of the vehicle, vs facing the outside.

Joey metioned that the siren chip is different. i wouldn't know because i'm running a horn honk ALSO and let me tell you, my 3 sirens cannot be heard over the horn honk. when the alarm is going off, i can hear them, but the chirps don't matter.

Yeah, Im either going to sell it, or throw it in my lil bro's car. I've got a guy here in Atl that wants it, but if for some reason I don't work something out, do you want me to PM you? Im prob gonna ask like $250 for it... I don't know where you're located, but if you're around Atlanta and need it installed, I could take care of that for you too. I warranty my work for life, and Ive got receipts for the thing, so DEI will warranty the brain for life too... (the $250 doesn't include install btw, lol!)

NVMD... Your avatar says your're from Illinois, it didn't show up on my reply screen when I was writing you...
