Hi Everyone,
I was doing a routine service on a customers EG6 rally car B16b ,with pro2 cams, gears, springs retainers etc. I noticed the pro series cam gears were cracked in places.
I have fitted/degreed several pro series gears including my own motor with-out any problem this is a first.
The valve timing has not moved thankfully. I degreed these cams only 6 months ago.
Has this happened to anybody else?
What could cause this to happen?

a little too much torque on the bolts can cause that to happen.

 

I think its pretty well documented that the pro series gears crack even if they are not over tightened. Call up skunk2, I think they will send you new ones.

 

Hmm thats scary. S2 will more then likely warranty that out unless there are signs of abuse. Has anyone seen this issue on the tuner gears? They seem to be built a bit more stout.

 

This is why I love my bisimoto gears that use arp hardware and impossible to slip.

 

im still running my STR cam gears and they are solid and built like a brick **** house...hopefully skunk2 will warranty those...ive seen way to many threads where they have cracked.
