People From NORCAL pls help a fellow californian out
I know this post is out of topic but dont really know where to post it so please bare with me.
Well, this past weekend, had a small roadtrip from San Jose,CA to Las Vegas,NV as a buddy of mine that lives down there turned the big 21.
On the way up there got pulled over for speeding in Barstow! It was like 130am, going about 96mph in a 70mph zone, went around a bend up a hill, and on the other side parked was CHP, tried to slow down, but no luck! Passed the CHP vehicle going about 75mph. I pulled over since the CHP was blaring their lights, the officer comes up to the window, asks me how fast I think I was going, I say, "Well, I passed you at or around about 75mph." He replies, "We got you on radar at 96mph." I respond with, "Interesting."
He fills out the paper work, gives me to sign, I tell him to wait a minute while I overlook the paperwork (I spend a total of 5 minutes reviewing the document), then ask him for the pen and before I sign it, I remark loudly "God damn't. In order to fight this, I have to drive all the way out here to Barstow?!" My brother-in-law and the two officers chuckle a little.
Sign the paperwork, he hands me my copy, then says, "Have a good night, by the way, Drive safe fellas." Now, this is my first speeding since 2004. has anyone ever got a ticket in barstow from different county? how much was the fine? can you change the venue to a closer location from where you live? any info would be helpful
thanks alot guys

It's not worth fighting it in court. You're better off mailing off your bail payment or paying it electronically. Then do online tracking school to prevent your insurance premium from rising. Judge will rule in favor of the officer. You were caught speeding and it's his word against yours. Who do you honestly think the Judge will side with? Remember, California is in the worst economic shape it has been in a long time. Do you really think the judge is going to let you off the hook from a $200 fine and court fees?
Trust me, I went through the same headache when I got a ticket in Nor Cal. I live in So Cal.

Sound like you were speeding and you got caught....
Pay the ticket or go back to the town and try to get driving school. With school, you'll still pay the fine but the points won't be on your liscense. They can set it up to where you can do the school in your own town....

you are better off just paying for the ticket and just take the traiffic school online (take only a couple of hours of your time) so your insurance doesn't go up. i know everywhere is different but i got a ticket for doing 77mph on a 55mph in Mariposa and the ticket came out to be 298.00. you can do trial by written declaration, will you win, I highly doubt it, as stated plea bargain to take traffic school if anything and do that.
did you ask 4 his radar gun reading if you are going to fight it ask for the radar paper reading it prints the time and speeding because he should be able to prove to the judge that you were going that fast to show your guilty if he can then your not guilty and the judge has to dismiss the case only other way he'll get you is if he's was right behind you when speeding then it pacing so ask 4 the radar gun print out hope this helps
edit* It wasn't a speeding ticket btw. Some BS failure to yield to officer or something like that.
Do what he said, TBD first then if that fails just pay the fine. It's free, it works sometimes and no need to actually drive down to the court. Coincidentally I got a BS ticket in Barstow last year going to Vegas (why else would you be in Barstow right? lol). Anyways I fought it with TBD and won, the ticket would have been $250 not including traffic school or court fees.

I just got a ticket for speeding officer said 90 in a 65 had no proof, I was going to fight it, HOWEVER when I went to court for it last month, I told the judge, "your honor, my plea is not guilty, however, should the court agree, I will plead no contest if the charge/fine is lowered, and I am allowed to take 8 hour traffic school." The judge looked at my ticket and said, "I will take your plea of no contest, and reduce it to 75mph, and at that speed you are eligible for 8 hour traffic school." The fine in all aspects when you think about it was MORE overall UPFRONT due to traffic school, and I also asked for an extension on payment since you have to pay the traffic school attendance fee at the court, and I did not anticipate that fee, so I ended up paying more than the ORIGINAL bail amount they send you in the mail, HOWEVER, it does not go on my insurance, which with a turbo charged full coverage car, was my MAIN concern, especially at age 20... Of course there is a very small MINOR detail I'm leaving out of what I told the judge which WAS true in my case, however I'd rather not say what it is and people start using it as a bullshit *** excuse in getting out of a ticket.
Good luck.
