Default 6-speed manual 98-02 Accord V6

Just out of curiousity, since the new Accord V6 still using the J30 engine and it comes with a 6-speed manual tranny for the coupe EX. Will it possible to put that tranny on the 98-02 Accord V6?

Will it be really hard to do? 6-speed manual tranny from Honda probably would cost about $2000 at least, what do you think?

If its the same J30 engine how/why does it pump out the extra power, i have yet to see how it actually gives us the increase in power.

edit: About the EX.

Increased air flow, less exhaust restriction, pistons, cams.

so if you had a 6th gen v6 you could just buy those stock items, replace them and your car would be running alot faster? There has to be something else. Somebody said they integrated something in the new accord to make it impossible to turbo it or something, can someone explain that please>

Its not the simple.

The exhaust manifold is integrated to the head. It could even be a different block with a different crank for all I know.

is it the same engine? i figured they got that extra power by throwing another cam into the head. 240's a pretty damn good # for a 3 ltr SOHC v6

I believe it's the J30 engine from the 98-02 Accord but they rework the engine so it can give that 40hp gain.

how about the upcoming CL w/ the 6-spd? Isnt the CL a J-series motor, and based off of the accord platform, so maybe at least the CL tranny would work??? (sounds sorta like a long shot, but plausable).

I think the new accord's cam settings are the big diff between the 200 and 240HP. 200HP outta a 3.0L v6 is pretty low, definately room for moderate improvements from the factory.

Be careful with the Cl 6 speed tranny, I have heard and seen reports of the trans allowing people to downship from 6th into 2nd at about 90mphs, What happens next is you call a tow truck to pick you and your car up, Damages the trans and motor,

I have a feeling they will recall these soon,

My accord was recalled for defective ignition switch, Anyone else get recalled accord wise?, this is a 5 th gen 99 accord ,

how faulty is hte tranny though? I would think that at least part of a 90mph 6th-->2nd downshift fault is the driver error. are the J-series trannies cable controlled like the past accords?

any tranny will allow a downshift from 6th to 2nd (if there is a 6th that is) thats just driver error.

the accord tranny IS the same tranny as the CL-S tranny, except the CL-S has a LSD.

i didn't say it was easy, i said the tranny will bolt to the motor....but it will be a bitch to line up mounts and all that good stuff.
