Car revs at 3k
Alright, I adjusted my throttle cable today because there was a ton of slack. Also, took off my FPR to move around my injector wiring. This is a crx with a d15b swap and OBD1. After adjusting the cable and putting everything back together. I started the car and it reved at around 2000RPM for a few and then slowly dropped. Started it up again after a few minutes and it idled fine. Tightened up the throttle cable a bit and had it all ready to drive. Start it again, it now revs at 3k. Now I figured it might be the throttle cable being too tight. Let the car run and disconnected the throttle cable, still idling at 3k. Not sure whats causing this problem. Thought it might also be the FPR because I had taken it off. But it ran fine after putting it back on. Any idea what might be causing this issue?

I have the same problem but did you try adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body and keep messing with you throttle cable. If both those dont change anything it could be a dirty idle air control valve.

it depends on your throttle body, my setup is a y8 mainfold with an eg throttle body so it has that big fat cold idle thing on the bottom, i just cut rectangles out of coke cans (2 to be exact) poke the holes for the bolts and put it back together, also i found a unused small port on the top that needed filling, i dont have an iacv at this point because the y8 mani is an auto one
and i have to drill it, other than that it idles just fine without it

Thanks for the input, but I fixed it. I took the whole intake manifold off and cleaned it, cleaned the FITV, cleaned the IACV and did a coolant flush. Put it all back together and started it up, runs perfect once again! Not sure what the problem was to begin with, my guess IACV, but either way, it works and I can drive to school finally. I ask my teacher what it could be, he said "you didnt hook it up right" so tomorrow he'll probably tell me I put it back right! Haha
