Just Bought 97 coupe - What steps now do I take to ensure reliability?
Just bought a a ek coupe with 156xxx miles on the motor. its completely stock. what steps should i take to insure reliability? Water Pump timing belt, etc.
yes your on the right track. If it were my car i would just do basic maintenence. Timing belt, water pump and possibly oil pump while the belt is off. A coolant flush along with an oil change won't hurt either.

Any idea on what's already been done? Along with the above suggestions, I'd change out the transmission fluid, fuel filter (reminds me, I've got to do mine), spark plugs, air filter, and check for cracks/leaks in the header and exhaust system.
also maby get some high mileage oil, and a drop in k&n air filter to help her breath a little better.
then do the seafoam 3 step process. to clean up gunk and carbon deposits.

If you're looking at changing out the timing belt and water pump, then you might as well change out your cam seal and crank seal while you're there.
