More Issues with my Rsx...FML
Wed. I was driving on the freeway, and I noticed a small stutter. So I let off and on the gas a couple times, and I didn't notice it again. So I get off the exit thinking maybe it was just in my head, until I am coming to a stoplight and now the car is doing a "herky-jerky" type of stutter. Way more noticeable. GF says "wtf was that". Obviously I didn't know, but I was about a hundred yards from an autozone, so I stopped in and borrowed a scan tool. Code read was Crankshaft Position Sensor. Is it common for the sensor to go bad? Opposed to the worse situation, of the crankshaft out of position, or a timing issue. Also I drove it another couple hundred yards to a local shop. Could I have done any more damage? It seemed like it wanted to stall out-sometimes. And then would drive fine after I pulled over and resumed driving. Then act up again. There was Grey smoke out of the tailpipes, most noticeably in second gear, and none in first. But it was stuttering at around 3k RPM's.
Theories please.
EDIT: I also have a previous code that comes and goes, for the VSS sensor, but the car wasn't showing anymore symptoms of that sensor being bad.

What exact codes did you get?
If you got a P1009, the timing chain has skipped one or more teeth on the cam(s). You should replace the chain, the tensioner, and the chain guides. Don't run the engine in the meanwhile because you risk bending valves if the chain skips again.
Have you been changing the oil on a regular basis and using the proper 5W-20 or 5W-30 oil? Has the engine ever been run low on oil at any point?
i agree with what has been said so far.. crank sensor is just a mag reader so i would replace chain and tensioner... something aditional ive been doing on k motors, is replacing the top chain guide that goes on top of the cams with the one from 07 civic si's because its bigger and can prevent the chain from skipping up top, and i put an aftermarket lower guide on to help prevent skipping on the bottom end.
