Climate Control - intermittent failure
I've a 96 Aerodeck made in the USA for the Japanese home market and imported to the UK. I gather that it is broadly similar to Accords of the period.
It has climate control and recently the climate control has stopped working intermittently.
I can hear a soft clicking noise in the vicinity of the passenger footwell (sounds like a relay?) and the display flickers for a while then goes dead, however after a variable period of time it comes back to life. I suspect that it may be to do with the coolant temperature as when I run the heaters after it comes back to life it runs for a while, the coolant temp drops and it goes off again.
Any ideas?
I'm trying to figure out whether it will cost me more than the car is worth to try and get it fixed at an air-con specialist. If it's a fault that will require a lot of tracing then it will be expensive but if it's just a re-gas then it's cheap.
