Default Spongy Brake Pedal Fixed!

For the longest time, my car has had a spongy brake pedal...The problem didn't go away even though i tried bleeding the brakes via several different methods...

A few days ago I checked the drum brakes because I'm now on my 3rd set of front pads but the original rear drum shoes still had life left to them. Upon inspection, i noticed that they freewheeled too easily..I readjusted them so that there was a little bit of drag on each drum.

Here are the improvements after the adjustment:
1) Much firmer brake pedal
2) Less brake pedal travel
3) Less pedal force required to stop the car
4) Less nose dive during braking
5) Improved brake pedal feel

Anyway, try adjusting the rear brakes (at the drums, not the center console) if bleeding your brakes didn't get rid of the spongy brake pedal! The drums are supposed to be self-adjusting but somehow the mechanism doesn't seem to be doing its job properly.

Many people forget this option, never thinking how much the rears do to help brake feel overall.

Is there a DIY on this? I only know how to adjust by the cables.

Another method to stiffen up your brake pedal is swapping in a DC5 master cylinder and slave.

Slave what, bud? I don't think the DC5 brake system has a slave cylinder, per se.
