Eagle rods better than gsr?
I will make a build in my gsr and my set up is that:
Wiseco 81,5mm 11:5:1 cr
Blox type C camshafts
Supertech springs and retainers
port and polished head P72
68mm TB
Blox V2 IM
Rep hytech manifold
I need the eagle rods? make more power or is better for high rpm?
many thanks and sory my english

rods wont net you more horsepower. eagles are heavier but at the same time they are much stronger than oem gsr rods. also, the wiseco pistons would be a direct fit onto the eagles. the small end of the gsr rod might need some work to fit with those pistons. at the same time, some say the big end of eagles rods need rework since they're not always within spec ( it may be hearsay to some extent).... you dont need the eagles but they would be more insurance towards the bottom end. here's a helpful link that explains the basics to connecting rods......http://www.enginebuildermag.com/Arti...ting_rods.aspx

GSR rods are forged and are plenty stron for any all motor build as well as boost. Replacing them is all but a waste in most of the builds you will ever see here.
^^ yes i agree 100%... too many people often buy aftermarket rods when all they need to do is purchase some ARP rods bolts to eliminate the chances of stretching. OP, for the money you spend on the eagles rods you could put that money towards something important like having the entire bottom end balanced (which is relatively inexpensive). that includes the clutch/pressure plate and flywheel along with the crank pulley as well. those fancy parts that go into the engine are only as good as how well the engine is put together.
unless you going to be boosted and making 300+whp i wouldnt bother with aftermarket rods in a b18c....just throw some arp rod bolts into the stock rods and call it a day
Just stick with the OEM rod and bolts and cast pistons. They can handle +9K rpms with zero problems.
If you plan to boost then eagle rods and CP pistons would be my 1st choice.

Actually I saved a picture a while back showing the weights of stock gsr rods & pistons vs wiseco pistons & eagle rods. The the aftermarket counterparts were both lighter, however not by a huge margine. But they certainly were not heavier like so many people "read somewhere online", and DEFINATELY not several hundred grams more each.
The problem is always going to be the big end stretching into an oval shape. That can overstress everything, which tends to snap OEM rod studs. Unless you're doing 10k rpm daily, stock GSR's with ARP's will get you fairly far.

what many people either don't seem to know or just forget is that the OEM rod bolts are just as good as the ARP bolts. The only deciding factor is mileage. If the motor has arp rod bolts in it with 70k on them, then oem rod bolts would be better and the the opposite would be true.
while this thread is still up i would like to apologize for the incorrect information i provided. the truth of the matter is, eagle rods do weigh less than the oem gsr rods. they do not weigh a substantial amount less than their oem counterparts but they are lighter by a couple ounces or less per rod. gsr rods with arp bolts would be a wise choice for anyone who would like to save some money
