Default Bringing a Motor Out of Storage

Hey guys,

So in the very near future I will be swapping in the motor from my dead SH into my current one. What worries me is that the motor hasn't been ran in 10 months. What would be the best way to get this motor running again while causing the least amount of stress? Keep in mind the motor only has about 3k on a fresh rebuild and was broken in correctly.

I was thinking of pulling the plugs and dropping a moderate amount of oil in each cylinder directly. Then, once the motor was out of the dead car, manually rotating the crank several times to re-lubricate the rings.

Are there any other precautions I should take? Maybe adding an additive like injector cleaner to the first tank of gas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

10 months? You'll be fine. Fire it up.

Fire it up???!!! Geezus christ. Anyways, you want
to at least put fresh oil. Id say you've got it down pretty good there. Oh and fuel additives are a waste of money.....

You guys do know that oil has a shelf life. Anywhere from 2-5 years brand new. Used oil, that has been sitting in a motor. Its also recommendedthat if it sits for a while
it should be shaken.

I say do as you want. Its your wallet and your motor.

And the fact that crx's that sit for 15 yrs and start right up, did it still have the original engine oil and gasoline in the tank. Or let me guess it started on hopes and dreams.....

I would even recommend looking at the timing belt as well. Oh wait they are made from carbon resin and last a million years......

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, I am well aware of how robust Honda motors are, I just figured that it couldn't hurt to take extra precautions in this case.

Now for the fun part, the swap itself
