Default EK4 Front Camber and Caster adjustment

Hi mates!!

Iam a owner of a honda civic ek4.

Iam looking for a combining kit for both front camber and caster adjustment!

I like track races and uphilled touges.I have found many systems like SPC,whiteline etc but I believe none of them provides steady steering alignments!!Regularly, this happens using like SPC and K-MAC because the forces applies only on the ball joint of front upper control arm during bound and rebound of suspension.

Some solution for caster are described below

The ek4 front lower control arm is one-piece unit.If I replace this with the lower control arm from eg or teg which is two-pieces unit,I can add some washers between separeted point of arm and so you can take some degrees positive caster angle!!The lower control arm of eg or teg fit properly to ek4?

The other solution is the cross mounting of left and right upper control arms, but I do not know how caster will be increased!!!

Finally,I thought to manufacture custom-made upper control arms. Each arm will have a cyclic shape and be mounted on uniballs instead of bushinhgs for caster adjustment. Also,it will have a worm with nuts at its mounting with the axle.So I will can ajust the camber.

I accept all your opinions......You need a help!!!

Most people barely understand caster, much less play with adjusting the value.

The bumpsteer was absolutely horrendous on my Integra with +4* of caster, so I'm back to stock values.

Lower the front to gain the camber you want. Use washers and longer bolts in the rear to reduce any excess camber you don't need. Ignore the caster.

My $0.02 anyway.

Why do you want more caster?

More caster provides better turn in and more accurate steering!!

More caster hurts turn-in...steering accuracy comes from many things but not caster. Caster at some point helps high speed straight line stability.

Caster will at some point wash out the the self centering affect of SAI or King pin...caster reduces turn in response because it increases steering effort - a loss of mechanical leverage at some level...caster throws weight onto the wrong rear wheel in an opposite lock condition, will introduce kick-back at high values. you might get some camber gain from caster but at the expense of many other potetnial more important aspects of tuning. And, if your car has an SLA front suspension, it gains camber in bump.

I've always looked at caster as a band-aid of sorts. Some caster is good I suppose but adding more caster requires looking at all else first. I personaly try to use as little as possible because in addition to all of the above, caster's self center strength will cover over the tire's subtle self aligning torque at the contact patch...those self aligning torques are repsonsible for steering feel. I prefer to feel as much as possible.

EDIT: Caster washes out the self centering affect of SAI because it will raise the inside turned portion of the body and lower the other side. SAI raises both sides equally and gravity essentially - and a little forward motion - cause the steering to return to center. When the inside turned portion of the front end is raised, weight is transfer diagonally across the car to the outside rear tire...so if you imagine being in an opposite lock condition - steering wheel turned to the left in this example - the left hand side of the car body over that wheel raises kicking weight across the car. You can draw a crude picture and see how this affect will hurt opposite lock correction.

When caster lowers the portion of the body over the outside front wheel, the affect increses neg camber a bit...exactly how much depends upon other 'things'...caster angle being one...well duh!

To add my caster experience to the discussion: due to one unfortunate encounter with some over-eager sidewall, my caster got lowered to below spec.

High speed 'turning' (read: 'minor direction change') was affected negatively severely, like have huge understeer - not a good thing at all.
