Default 98 Honda Prelude Clutch Bleeding issue.

My buddies 98 Prelude had a leaky slave cylinder so we replaced it. Bled the clutch like I do with all other Hydro systems. **** didnt work. So today him and my other buddy decided to turn the car on and then bleed it and it finally started to build pressure. So im just wondering if all Preludes need to be started to start bleed the clutch or is his car just weird? Tried searching and looked in the Prelude Faq but no answer.
