Default Is my head gasket bad? Are they hard to replace?

I have a 95 Civic Coupe 1.6L (AT). I recently noticed what I believe to be oil in my coolant reservoir tank. The car smells pretty bad too. After driving it it just smells hot. When putting the car in park the idle will jump for awhile thinking coolant isn't getting to the IACV or anything. It drives fine though. Anything else I should look for?

Also I plan to replace it myself, I've built all my VW's but never tackled a Civic, how hard is it? They have some good full kits on Ebay for about 80 and I figure I can give myself the entire day for the work. Anything I should look out for though?
