i need help with my leaking trans! da ys1 help!
so i just finished up all the last little thing after my trans swap and now it wont stop leaking. i have a 92 da teg with stock ls motor and the axels that came with the car. i assume they were stock replacement ls axels but with the way this car is going i have no idea. could be anything. i ran to honda today and picked up an axel seal cause it seems to be leaking out of the int shaft where it goes unto the dif. also it looks like its not going in all the way. someone else on another post said that there is some cap that is leaking. i dont see any cap at all. ive tried removing and re-installing this damn axel 3 times now. i was even whacking away at the int shaft mount from the back of the block and it wont seem to go in anymore. it didnt leak with the old ls trans and i looked at the old trans and there are no prats that im missing that i can tell. the original owner was a f**king idiot and was missing alot of stuff. like CODER PINS!!!!! who does that. well any help would be appretiated! any pics too of this cap i keep hearing about. i will take pics and post tomorrow and post what my axel penetrating the diff looks like and maybe someone can just tell me if im not in all the way. ive done about 4 motor swaps and have never had this problem before. im hoping its not the oil seal inside the trans. this trans has been sitting in my basement for the past 3 years and i wanted to use it cause the stock ls trans was gringing in 3rd and 4th gear bad.
ok so today i took the axel out and after looking at my old trans and then looking at the ys1 and then looking at the old trans and then again at the ys1, i figured out that i had pushed the oil seal in too far and it was not mating up witht he end of the axel. for after taking it back out again i pushed the seal in just far enough to where the outer rim was flush witht he diff housing and then put it all back together and with the front jacked up and wheels off i put it in first gear and let the hubs spin. i crawled undernieth and inspected it and nothing was leaking. i topped it off and then went for a test drive. inspected it again and everything seams good. just goes to show you have to look at the little details and make sure you put things back the way they should have been.
