Flywheel Hits JDM b18c block.
Hey all, this seems to be a pretty solid place for info. So I figure I'll ask my question here, tho. integra is just what's wrapped around my problem. I just bought a JDM GSR motor, complete, w/o trans, to replace the b18a in my 93 teg., and an ecm, for vtec. My problem is this, I thought I researched this enough to know that this would, save for some wiring, be a pretty drop in swap, but the Flywheel, that bolts up to my b18a1 motor, hits the "bellhousing" portion of the b18c, I'm sure someone is going to say to fix this it's as easy as buying some seriously expensive flywheel, but It looks like, it might be just as easy, to have the flywheel machined, while it's in the Machine shop getting refinished for the new clutch. I just wonder if anyone has run into this before, I searched at length to find info on this, apparently not hard enough, as I couldn't find anyone with this problem. No Idea how to post pics. Guess I better go read forum rules, I'll be back with pics. as soon as I figure out how.
It would appear that you need a B18C flywheel. That would be the next logical thing. You have a B18C motor that your B18A flywheel doesn't fit. Try the B18C flywheel.
As I said, it looks as simple as just machining off some of the flywheel, It's already going to the machine shop to be refinished, would it be just as easy to have the excess material taken off? I live in a small town, I can drive to a machine shop on monday, and possibly do it cheaper, and as effective, or order the b18c flywheel monday, get it thursday, and have it cost twice as much. I am just curious if anyone has done the machine option before, and what other problems I may have.
