ok im buying this b16 head its a 89 and i know they came stock with single valve springs but this one has retainers and single springs and the guy is claiming that the springs and retainers are aftermarket.......

but my question is does any company make a upgraded valve spring that is a single spring??? and is there anyway for me to make sure there not oem.

i've never seen aftermarket valvesprings that weren't dual springs.

 

Im pretty sure OEM retainers (steel) are magnetic and dull looking.
Titanium is NOT magnetic and has a shinier look to them..

I have yet to see any single valve springs made by an aftermarket companies for a DOHC VTEC motor.

 

I have old school JG Engine Dynamics single springs on bc4's. Never had an issue.

 

Is there anyway for me to check if there the ones ur talking about
