Default Sanjiyan's All-Motor b20vtec Build

This is my first build and my goal is to have this be a fun summer and occasional track car. This is primarily a summer car (I have a CRV that I daily). I was going to build a N/A GSR but now I'm going B20vtec.

My goal is between 200 and 225 WHP. Hopefully this is do-able

Current set up

-GSR with ITR cams
-Blox IM with ITR TB
-Hytech replica header
-Megan 2.5" SS exhaust (fart can)
-eBay CAI

Planned setup:
-YCP 84mm Type R Pistons
-Supertech Valves/springs/Ti Retainer (already have)
-Edelbrock PerformerX IM (already have)
-Skunk2 Pro1 cams (already have)
-Professional 68mm TB (already have)
-walbro 255
-RDX injectors (already have)
-PnP/valve job.
-ITR flywheel 14lbs (already have)
-ARP Head Studs (already have)
-OEM bearings.
-Unorthodox Racing Cam Gears. (already have)
-Megan 2.5" mandrel bend exhaust (already have)
-Hytech knock off. (already have)
-Professinal Products Fuel Rail
-Oil Catchcan
-ITR oilpump/waterpump

It will be tuned at Profunction in Chicago.

Any other suggestions?
Open to any inputs

thank you!

check out dyno section here
and check out dyno section on evans tuning, and few other honda forums
compare them to eachother to see what combinations of parts used and what power they make , then you will be able to see what to expect from that motor.

from what i ve seen on on those dyno charts your combo would probably make around 190whp +/-

Yea not likely to hit 220+ with what you listed. Whats your budget? Look into a b20 with RS ITR's and a ported head.

I don't have much to play with. maybe another thousand or so? The goal is to sell off all the parts I can and put that back in the budget. I'm thinking about selling the SRP and get some other pistons with higher compression.

I will look into the evan's site and other forums for more info.

thanks guys!

I have a GSR Head with ITR cams. You will not make 200-225 on a dyno jet, I'm at 190whp right now.
I am running about 11.5:1 compression ratio.
I have the Performer X manifold on my car, nice but killed the low end. I'm down 10tq.

To be honest if your goal is really that range, get you head PnP'd. As for cams look into Blox C's, JUN III, S2 Pro 1's, M22x, maybe even the Buddy Club IV. Any of these cams would get you above 200whp. I have thought about these cams for my car to get me over 200whp.

You DON'T need a 2.0ltr to make 200whp.

Don't forget about fuel injectors. Look into FIC 525's, yes they are big but you can tune them to you build. The spray pattern they have is much better than the Lucus type injectors (stock and RC).
I will be replacing my RC370's with these once I get my Custom GSR manifold back on my car.

You mention a "custom" GSR intake manifold..... ? Can I ask what you are having done? I have a blown GSR motor as well as a newer JDM GSR motor and I am thinking about changing intakes but I am staying all motor... really want to keep the torque as I need it for Rallying.

that build will "maybe' get you in the 200 whp range. When I built my na gsr, I had a p&p head, supertech valve train, blox b cams, skunk IM, ctr pistons, rc310 injectors, rmf narrow replica header along with some other goodies and my tuner was only able to get 205whp. If I wanted more whp, I could've went with some more aggressive cams, but my gsr was my daily commuter. In the end, its not all about peak hp, but rather having strong power through the entire power ban. Just my .02

This is not my daily but I do understand where you're coming from. Most of the use-able power is mid to low range anyway. Once a while I do hit vtec....

I'm not sure if I will have the money for a PnP/valve jobs. How much does that usually cost anyway? any place you guys can recommend if I want get PnP/valve job done? I'm near Michigan, so closer the better

Thanks guys

Send it to RLZ on the east coast or Steve @ CCcylinderheads located in SoCal. I had my head done by Steve. Awesome results and great pricing. He has a street package for $600.

My old GSR manifold had been pnp'd. It made really nice gains in the mid range but ran out of air up top. Then I switched to the Px.
I gained 6whp peak and ended up losing 10wtq down low. So I will be going back to my GSR.
The plenum section is cut apart, more volume, the butterfly section has be reworked to allow more air and used epoxy to reshape the entrances to that section, and the runner section nothing, already polished. I should have it back from the shop in a week or so.
Simple goals get the 10wtq back and keep the gains at the top.

225 dynojet on a 1.8l is tough but doable. It really just depends on how streetable you want it to be (peoeple have diff definitions of what "streetable" is.) If you're willing to turn some serious RPM, I can see it happening. Good headwork, a manifold designed for high rpm use, big cams, & a header with large primaries could get the job done at 9200-9500rpm. I know this all sounds terribly theoritical and obvious, but the devil is in the details. Ports will have to be the right size, valve job of the right sort, cam timing/overlap dialed in, etc. etc. , but its far from impossible.

I was gonna say search member "GIANT" on here. IIRC He had a 1.8 ITR with ~230whp

I will be talking to CC Cylinder heads about some headwork once I have all my parts and it's winter here in Michigan. I'm still in the process of collecting parts. Anyone got some new ARP head studs you wanna sell me? haha

I'm mainly looking to break the 200 WHP mark. I will look at "GIANT" to see if I can find any inspiration lol

I also thought about turbo before going the N/A route. Actually, if it's a small boost, I still shouldn't have any problems since I know GSR is around 11:1 anyway. For now I'm just going to stick with N/A and collect parts for now. I'm breaking my wallet lol.

If you have anything I need on the part list...let me know!!!

A change of heart. Going B20vtec. Luckily I can use the head parts, but now I have to sell the rods and pistons to pay for the other parts (water pump, timing belt, dizzy, stuff).

The b20 block is very healthy, the soon-to-be previous owner installed all new bearings and seals and I am in the process of buying a GSR head from him as well as soon as the motor is pulled from his car.

It has YCP ITR pistons in with ARP rod bolts. I will post more as soon as I pick up the block and head.

The head is going to be port and polished, then supertech valvetrain will be installed (springs, retainers, flat valves).

Looks like I will have Jun III cams for it. We have several sets of cams we can try out at the dyno when we are ready.

Thanks everyone for their input. This is going into an EK. fun times.

yeah. that's the only thing I have. Lack of funds. lol Maybe I will pick up a better header, but for now this will do.

the spare GSR head is gonna be sent out to PnP. Can't wait!

btw, anyone has a set of GSR cams? I'm gonna swap out the ITR cams and sell it. need the GSR cam to put back to the GSR so i can sell the long block complete.

thanks!

buddyclub iv cams did great in my mild gsr build. It pulled smoothly to 9k. Had enough torque to do 2nd gear rolling clutch kick burnouts. pretty fun!~
