Default D16z6 Tranny Question

I have a D16z6 tranny that goes into every gear fine but when you let off the gas on 1st and 2nd it grinds and if you let on the gas on 3rd it wants to pop out but it doesnt, well its only popped out once. I just opened it up and found what seemed to be parts of a gear on the magnet and a loose shield looking thing. Ill take pics soon but I finished taking it apart and nothing seems to be chipped or bad everything looks fine. My question is, could it have been that stuff floating around in the tranny that made it do what its doing?

Yes and no, the fact that there was stuff floating around isn't so much a problem as the fact that the stuff is floating around is not where it needs to be.

one or more of the following:

-engagement teeth on the gears are worn
-sleeves and hubs are chewed up
-syncros are worn (even if the teeth look good the pads can be worn, check for clearance

As far as popping out of gear, most likely worn or broken syncro spring or severely worn engagement teeth will cause this.
