Default Noise - Discrimination?

So I go out to the track last week and I get my car ready to run, I put the slicks on, un cap the exhaust, etc. - I get in line and do my burn out, stage, hit the 2 step, and smoked some old Mopar slicked down as well. I hit a 7.71 and the Muscle car a 7.96 - I turn around to get my timeslip and the first thing I get is "Your car is too loud, you need to close your exhaust or leave" - All along I was under the impression that turbo cars can run with an open header?????

I turned around and told the official "you mean to tell me my little honda is louder than that BIG O' V8 with open headers?"

This moron had nothing to say but "If I think your car is too loud, you got to fix it"

I understand Honda's have a high pitch sound and all, but really? My car is turbo'd and I at times drive it around with an open header on the streets. Heck, my neighbor's Harley is louder and I mean WAY louder....

I just thought it was a bunch of crap -

They should make this determination at TECH, not allow some redneck on a powertrip.

Tell them to give you your money back if they ask you leave and dont have any written rules with actual dB readings posted.

There is a local track here that has "STREET NIGHT" and the rules say you must run on DOT's and have full exhaust with muffler. Maybe they have a similar policy? Not defending them at all because I suspect that there may be some descrimination.

Hahahahaha I feel the same way. It is also funny too see Honda's with HUGE and I mean HUGE "ALL MOTOR" decals and they still refuse to mention that it is a n/a car. "On the right lane, we got a Turbo Honda" Just stubborned old fashioned bastards refusing to give props.

Dam, that is even worse. That policy flies out the window when a muscle car stages up. Heck, they shut down Pomona street legal drags because the majority of cars where imports. I guess they didn't want to waste their time, or see us improve.

this happened to me..well kinda, see I took my old XSI teggy to the track and EVERYONE hated on the noise, tho I was the only import there but hell running the car up and down for times is fun as hell. But the officials were just hating all over my lil teggy, while they were cheering on all the mustangs and chargers......haters....

I wish I had the money to build a track..... I would have it open 24 hours 7 days a week - I would hire a bunch of crack head techs to keep them awake all night long, and have a sign outside that read "HONDA AND ACURA'S ONLY" lol

Just run an exhaust on the car and get a retune and continue to bust ***! I dive my car to the track with my BFG's run low 12's all night with full interior and my exhaust hooked up and drive home. It's amazing! They will have no excuse then! I love doing it!

must be a Cali thing, most tracks dont have any noise issues unless it is late at night or a 'street class' event which usually calls for DOT tires and mufflers

sorry for the 'haters'

try racing in Germany, they have a track here called German racewars www.germanracewars.com they have events like jet dragsters, and people just driving around popping wheelies and running exhaust out the hood on beatup vw and bmw. I was told one night I could not race anymore because my exhaust was too loud because I use the 2 step. have you ever heard a jet dragster?
I blame it on jealousy, run 11's on a crappy track while everyone else runs 14's

What time did you race? Irwindale has neighborhoods close by who can hear the track with ease from the echoing. After a certain hour I could understand sending the louder cars home. As for Pomona being shut down because of imports is bull. Pomona got shut down to only about 2-3 events a year because of noise. All the rich people with the mansions wanted there neighborhood quiet.

It was early - about 6pm and there is nothing close that would be affected by noise, but pure rock plants. I know this because I work at one of the plants. Since 1999 -

Pomona is another issue, some claim it was the rich folks, and when we actually raced there we were told by several officials that due to lach of techs wanting to sit and watch 15 second Hondas it was not an entertainment for them. Back in those days there were not manny interesting Hondas. Who knows, he might had just been being a jerk... But whatever. Noise my ***, there is an airport right next doors, along with the Top Fuel dragster events, not to mention all the other "classis rods" racing that goes on there.

only time that happens around here is when its later in the evening and locals have been complaining about loud cars. track has to respect their neighbors. i just hope they say it to everyone.
