Well..like the title says..I have no clue whats wrong but for the last week and a half ive had a terrbile smell inside my car everytime I drive. anyone have an idea what it could be, i checked for leaks and couldnt find any? only smells inside the car cant smell anything outside. anyone.!?!?
Getting any blue-grey smoke and oil burning smell out of your tailpipe? If so and no external leaks, you're burning the oil in your combustion chamber which lead to signs of worn piston rings or valve guide seals.

118k miles, ive had it since around 106. I guess you could say the miles i put one were somewhat hard. I checked for leaks and couldnt find any. I also checked for anything rubbing or something that could be burning. I found nothing. So what now? any way to see if the piston wrings are bad without taking the eng. apart?
im wondering, did you do an oil change jus before the smell? if you did you jus spilt oil on your exhaust or block, or both. if you get some bluish smoke when acceleration your compression rings are leaking. if you get some smoke while decelerating your oil rings are going bad.

start off with a compression test. the readings should be within 20% percent of the highest reading. to further diagnose the problem do a wet compression test to see how well the rings are seating. if one or more cylinders are lower than the rest pour a teaspoon of oil in that cylinder and do the compression check. if the compression goes up, then your rings are shot. if it doesnt change at all then your valve guide seals may be toast. take note of the reading on the first crank during the compression test. that tells you how well your rings are seating. first and last readings are the most important. hope that helps. if not then your wrist pins may have scored your cylinder walls during high revs and high temperatures. peace
