1994 civic hatch build
last year around this time i got a civic hatch for my wife as a project. this is her car which is the reason for some of the girly stuff in the car. when we got the car it was gutted for a "race car" build. so all it had was two seats, a dash and the auto shifter. there was also no engine just an empty bay. this build is to make a nice stockish street car. no tuck and hide build, i'm 6'3" i don't want anything extra inside the car that can be under the hood cause i still have to be able to ride/drive the thing from time to time.
now time for pics.
the first few are of the nastiness as we got the car.

now with what I've done thus far. i didn't get pics cause i had to do it fast before i moved from Maryland but i installed the spindles and brakes from the 97 ex parts car. so i had to ditch the 13's they won't fit over the ex brakes.
now for the 5spd conversion
pedals installed with the ignition lock module disconnected in the back ground.

here is where i spliced in the clutch pedal relay and the reverse lights.

i ran the reverse light wires over to the pcm

and spliced them into a19 and a17 here

and here is the clutch relay for the starter
now time for pics.

here i installed the factory bucket piece that goes around the shifter. this way i can put on the boot to keep exhaust heat out like its suppose to.

then i installed a 97 civic center console. the color is a little off but i will paint it later to match and fill the small gap between the dash and console.

engine installed but not cleaned up yet

here i hooked up most every thing and cleaned the bay up a bit.

still needs some a/c parts and the header/turbo manifold. leaning toward turbo mani.
gsr brake master cyl and booster. i had to take off the intake mani just to get the thing in there. its way bigger than the stocker. its should stop pretty well.

i think i may make a bracket for the coil and mount it there.

well that's all for now i need to collect some more parts like oil, heater hose, dizzy cap, an IAT sensor, and a evap solenoid. at some point the whole car will be painted black.

yeah, at some point i will break it all back down and clean up the rust and paint it up. i want to get all the suspension parts and what not before i break all that down. no since to take all the rusted stock stuff off just to put it back on. there is the typical rust over the rear wheels. so i have to cut that out and i'm thinking about widening it there just a little for some fatter tires. i want this car to huge corners.
Well it started today! Can't drive it just yet but it fired up. I have to see about the fuel pump though. Seems it might be weak or it's not priming during starts. I had to pinch the return line to get it to start. Ones started I could release the line. It all ran fine in my car and I have an extra pump so I'm going to start there.

my son found a 70's era Honda shift **** in the junk yard yesterday. it only shows 4spd but its cool as **** so we put it on there to.
it actually fits pretty well. i started off with the rear bracket to start. i unbolted the e-brake cable bracket from the 97 and put it in place of the 94. that made the perfect mount point for the rear of the console. then i screwed the middle bracket on from the 97 and self-tapped it to the body. and where the dash piece comes down you have to take out the pocket and cut it out of the way for the pocket on the console. you don't have to trim anything off the 97 console. i thought i had to trim a bit off the top and now i have a gap. but on the back side of the pocket there are to screw holes that are for mount it in a 97 dash piece. cut those off, that way you don't have to cut any metal from the dash supports. where the console wraps the lower dash i put a screw in the screw hole on both sides to kinda draw it in a little. i like the way it came out compared to the stock tiny console.
I was wondering if anybody would catch that. Is a Halloween decoration that was on the garage door. I thought t would make for a funny side charactor.
well, its been awhile but i got to drive the car to work today. i had a few bumps along the way. i forgot that i borrowed the "O" ring from the power steering pump for my car. so it sucked in tons of air and leaked all over the place. but i found one and got it in there. so far so good. the speedometer didn't work, turns out the center pin totally rusted out. new pin and now it works. vtec didn't work. this motor doesn't have a oil press switch (jdm). so i hooked up a relay to ground activated by the vtec solenoid wire to open the ground. so now that works. i loaded a jdm tune with crome, but i guess it didn't matter.
i think the heater cable is corroded inside. its a mother to turn the heater on and off. i think i know where one is in the junk yard though.
