any tips/steps for bondoing? suggestions?

prep the area to be filled very good or cracking will happen

yes but dont ever use bondo its the worst filler out there I would recomend evercoat

take it down to bare metal
mix filler not to much hardner
apply filler as smooth as possible (easier to shape it)
allow to cure
sand down i usually start at 120-320
spot prime them on to next place
