Crank case breather pipe relocation ....
[/IMG]I forget whats its called but the pipe at the back left hand side of a B16A engine on the head.....
Anyway i noticed it is a pipe connected to a piece of metal that bends and then it connects back to a pipe and goes into the intake hose. SHOWN IN RED...
this piece of metal also incorporates another hose that goes from the intake manifold to the engine. SHOWN IN GREEN
Basically i want to take this piece of metal off that you can see, and connect the pipes from intake to engine to each other with the same piece of hose just cutting out the middle man basically.
in doing this it means i can remove the pipe going to my intake and i want to install a piece of pipe ( oil hose ) going to one of those crank case filters.
SHWON IN BLUE for diagram purposes.
2 reasons for this .
1 i had a crank case filter on my toyota starlet turbo and it leaked oil over the engine hence why i want to use a length of pipe to take this else where
2. there is a bit of smoke at high rpm i mean past 8800 coming from exhuast and a few people have said piston rings or valve seals. a couple have said the oil pressure is getting high at 9000rpm so it may be forcing oil out of the crank case and into the intake making it smoke.
do you think this is a good idea to relocate the breather pipe from the intake hose to somewhere else in the bay via a crankcase filter vent ???
or have i been really dumb and this is exactly what an oil catch can is for ????

yes thats what a catch can is for but it usually utilizes another port in the valve cover and two from the block. I seriously doubt this is gonna stop ur smoking, its more likely stems and/or valve seals. a low pressure area in the intake tract just after the steam pulls oil into the tract and is often very bad on b series vtecs. Ur car should not pass inspection doing as u describe, especially if its obdII and or u live in cali. is this a right hand drive?
since your engine seems to be stock, then i would say there is absolutely no point in doing this modification. if you do decide to do it, then the be advised that the hose marked with green carries coolant so you will need to reattach with some type of hose splicer, then you need to bleed the system. you can eliminate the crank vent and put a filter on the valve cover. your NA motor will not be like your turbo starlet. it wont spit oil.

what do you mean about this steam do you mean seam...as in joint?

mods:
Feels light weight flywheel
Feels clutch
Feels cams
Feels uprated valvetrain to match cams
Feels ecu
Feels intake kit
Feels complete exhuast system including header.
last time it was dynoed it made 187hp that was on 99octane in the uk and on 102 octane in japan it made 201hp. that was over a year ago now so ma be running less now.
feels fitted all the parts themselves costing a fortune for the last owner.
ok i'm gonna get a crank case vent and i'll see what happens.
sorry its not stock at all mate i should have said really my bad, the picture is off google not mine i thinks it a b16a2 in the pic but mines a B16A being the sir eg6.

i meant valve steam. Il tell u what I did with mine as a stocker. I plugged a hose to the valve cover and another hose to the black pcv box on the intake side of ur block and just ran them down the the power steering rack and zip tied em. When i go turbo, il make another hole in the valve cover and take a freeze plug out the block and run those two along with the current two to a catch can, which will b a power steering resivour with a filter on top. home made catch can setup
so you just ran them to the open air so it would simply spill out under the car.... i like that idea i may put a lil filter over the end though.
I noticed a little j shaped thing on the intake piping today is there any sort of bung i can get for this or is it a good thing its there.... to me it just looks like a hinderence for air flow.

lol mate i asked for your opinion. thanks for your help appreciate it.
yep, its just vapors. both hoses are pretty high in the bay then run down the the rack. I havnt lost any oil if thats what ur suggesting. The j shape thing i dunno about ud have to show me, probably just a resonance box or something to keep it quiet, yep not good for airflow
