Default 96 accord with a 95 motor problem?

After searching on what to look for I haven't found an answer, seems the threads just end without a fix.

Backgroung info its a 96 accord ( 25th aniversary ) with a 95 accord motor. My dad toasted the 96 motoor up and after telling him to get an obd2 motor to make life easier he shows up with a 95 motor I guess you can see where this is going now. Both are 2.2 non vtec engines

Anyway I know nothing about accords, I've only dealt with integras so I know about the B series. Leave the car at a friends that knows these things and he had my dad get an obd1 distributor to wire up. Get the car back and my dad said it ran fine. Parked it and when I drove it the cel cam on and at highway speeds about 60 or so it will flash. I know that means multiple cylmisfire and when ii sccaned it it says only cyl 1 misfire.

Car runs smooth while driveing no power loss or miss dosent run ruff. I'm wonderring if it was wired up correct to the distributor. I can't get ahold of the guy that wired it up because he's got some stufff going on right now and I don't wana bother him.

I've changed the cap, rotor, wires and plugs.
Cleaned the egr and 4 ports.

Anyone have any insight as on what to check or a wireing.

Have you checked the compression in cylinder 1?

it may just be me so dont quote me but assuming that you used your wiring harness, did you make sure all the wires are the same at each connector. just because they fit doesnt mean they are all connected to another wire at the other end. Also I wouldve changed out the ECU as well to be on the safe side for specs purposes.

Changed the distributor and now seems good, old one was covered in oil inside and the shaft was shot lots of play.
